From Yes to Thirty Meter Telescope
All: we are going to be honest with you. Recently, we have talked with Gov Ige’s office, Mayor Kim’s office, and TMT officials. The message is clear.
We need YOU to make Governor Ige to open the road. Period.
He won’t do it on his own. But he wants us to pressure, browbeat, push on him to open the road. Hard. Then he will. Yes, most leaders would just enforce the damned law. But these are the cards we are dealt.
We can do this. This will require FULL participation from you (yes, YOU). What does that mean?
1. EMAIL/CALL GOV. IGE’s OFFICE and MAYOR KIM’s OFFICE. Do not simply suggest OPEN ROAD. Be civil but INSIST on OPEN ROAD. IMMEDIATELY.
Governor Ige
Phone: (808) 586-0034
Email: https://governor.hawaii.gov/contact-us/contact-the-governor/
Mayor Kim:
Phone: (808) 961-8211
Email: https://hawaiicounty.wufoo.com/forms/x1u08sen1o8l1o3/
Have a group of you together? Check. From Hawaii/Hawaiian? Ask Mayor Kim for a meeting to urge him support of OPEN ROAD:

We can help you prepare.

2. SUBMIT TESTIMONY AND SHOW UP TO HEARINGS AND OTHER EVENTS
The protesters thrive on crashing public hearings with lots of testimony and then SHOWING UP to events and rawrr. Some of it is well stated but a lot of it is just rawrr. We have to do the same. Except make sense all the time.
We will be updating list of events. Here are some:
a. Join local hearings and council meetings that address the Thirty Meter Telescope
https://www.facebook.com/groups/yes2TMT/permalink/2125992444376844/
b. Support for the Thirty Meter Telescope
c. Friday, October 18, 2:30pm, UH-Manoa [Oahu], TMT Panel Discussion, Kuykendall 101
d. Thursday, October 24 to Friday, October 25, Hilo [Big Island], Land Use Commission hearing, Grand Naniloa Hotel
e. Sunday, October 27 Hilo [Big Island], TBA
3. SUBMIT TESTIMONY AND SHOW UP TO HEARINGS AND OTHER EVENTS
Because it needs to be emphasized. Again.
4. Contact Legislators
Who supports TMT and who is neutral? Look here:

Call from phone numbers here:
https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/members/legislators.aspx?chamber=all
5. Be Creative, Be Out There, and Call the News
Got an idea for a way to raise awareness? Let us know. Know of something? Let us know. If it can be good for raising awareness of TMT support then contact the media.
**
Bottom Line: If we want TMT in Hawaii we are going to have fight for it. We can do it. Remember Kai Kahele’s “gut and replace” bill? We mobilized like crazy and killed that bill. Have to mobilize again.
We can do this! Imua TMT!
